Film classification

When my group and I were deciding on a rating for our film we were torn between a '12' or a '15'. After looking at the BBFC website we deciding on the rating '15' for our film.

We decided not to have our film a rating of '12' because...

Although their isn't any violence in the opening two minutes of the film, as our main protagonist is a drug abuser there would more than likely be violence. Also a major part of the film would be the patient dying due to being prescribed the wrong drugs by the protagonist. This would mean that blood and injuries would have a major part in the film and therefore our film wouldn't suit a rating of a '12.'

Although their isn't any strong language in the two minute opening, as the psychiatrist is a drug abuser strong language may be used in the film therefore a '12' wouldn't be a suitable rating.

Although drugs would not be glamorised in our film as our film would show the side effects of drugs which would hopefully discourage people from taking them, they would still have a major role in the film as our protagonist is a drug abuser.

After much consideration we decided to rate our film a '15' because...

In no way are the drugs in our film encouraged. Our film actually shows the unpleasant side of drugs so our film would fit the rating '15.'

Side Effects also influenced our decision to rate our film a '15' as the films have similar themes.
